CEI:AgER researcher awarded professorship at Charles Sturt University
The Centre for Engineering Innovation: Agriculture & Ecological Restoration Agriculture Theme Lead A/Professor Michael Walsh has recently been offered a highly deserved new position as Professor of Plant Sciences at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, NSW. Michael is an international leading weed scientist who has worked on development of innovative weed control technologies aimed at reducing the impact of herbicide resistance on Australian cropping systems, such as the Weed Chipper.
At CSU Professor Walsh will be part of the team at the recently formed Gulbali Institute for Land, Water and Environment. His role focuses on the development and delivery of novel weed control technologies. The facilities and rural campus at Wagga Wagga will provide the perfect context for streamlining the process of weed control technologies from the lab to the field to the farmer.
CEI:AgER has been privileged to have Michael lead the Agriculture Theme within the Centre. Due to the ongoing need for agricultural engineering input, Professor Walsh will continue to work closely with the CEI:AgER team. The team celebrates Professor Walsh’s well-deserved appointment and looks forward to the ongoing collaborations that he will facilitate.
